Pinterest video downloader
Save video pins as MP4, image pins at original resolution, and every page of an idea pin. Paste a pinterest.com/pin or pin.it link. No login.
Works with pinterest.com/pin/… (any country domain, such as in.pinterest.com) and pin.it/… short links. Public pins only.
Only download media you have the right to save. The copyright stays with the original creator, who is often not the person who pinned it.
4 steps, no signup
- 01
Copy the pin link
On the pin, tap the share icon and choose Copy link. The app gives you a
pin.itshort link; the website gives youpinterest.com/pin/…. Both work. - 02
Paste it above
Paste the link and press Get media. Short links are followed to the full pin automatically.
- 03
Check the preview
Video pins show a playable MP4. Image pins show the original upload. Idea pins with several pages show every page separately.
- 04
Download
Press Download under any item to save it: MP4 for video, the original JPG or PNG for images.
Short answer: Pinterest has no download button for video pins. Copy the pin's link (Share → Copy link), paste it above and press Get media. You get the MP4 Pinterest stores, usually 720p, or the original image file, with one Download button per item. It works with pin.it short links and needs no login.
What this Pinterest video downloader does
Pinterest lets you save a pin to a board, but a board is a bookmark inside your account, not a file. For videos there is no download option at all. The Pinterest video downloader takes the link to a public pin and gives you the actual file: an MP4 for video pins, the original upload for image pins, and one file per page for idea pins.
Most downloader pages stop at "paste and download". This one also tells you what went wrong when a pin can't be saved, because a pin that won't download usually has a specific, fixable reason.
How it works
A public pin page carries a description of the pin in its page data: the video renditions Pinterest stores, the image in several sizes, and for idea pins, a list of pages. The tool reads that description for the exact pin you linked, not the related pins around it, and picks:
- Video: the H.264 MP4 (usually 720 pixels on the short side) Pinterest serves from
v1.pinimg.com. Some pins only list an adaptive HLS stream; the tool then checks whether the matching 720p MP4 exists and offers that. It skips HEVC files when a normal MP4 exists, because many phones and browsers cannot play HEVC. - Images: the file in Pinterest's
originalsfolder oni.pinimg.com, which is the uploaded image, not a feed thumbnail. - Idea pins: each page's video or image, in order.
pin.it short links are followed first, so the tool knows which pin they point to.
Which links work
| Link | Example | Works? |
|---|---|---|
| Pin link | pinterest.com/pin/1063271793289234174/ | Yes |
| Country domain | in.pinterest.com/pin/…, pinterest.co.uk/pin/… | Yes |
| Pin link with a title | pinterest.com/pin/strawberries--87749892736092379/ | Yes |
| App short link | pin.it/AbCd123 | Yes, when it points to a pin |
| Idea pin (several pages) | Any pin link | Yes: every page is listed |
| Board or profile | pinterest.com/username/board/ | No: link one pin |
| Pin on a secret board, or deleted | Any | No |
| Pin linking to a YouTube video | Any | Only the pin image; the video lives on YouTube |
Step by step on each device
Android
- In the Pinterest app, open the pin, tap Share and choose Copy link.
- Open Chrome, come to this page, tap Paste and then Get media.
- Tap Download. The file goes to Downloads and appears in your gallery.
iPhone and iPad
- Copy the pin link from the share sheet in the Pinterest app.
- Open this page in Safari, not an in-app browser. Paste and tap Get media.
- Tap Download and confirm. Then open Files → Downloads, tap the video, tap Share and choose Save Video.
Windows or Mac
Open the pin on pinterest.com, copy the address bar, paste it above and press Download. Files are named after the pin ID so several downloads don't overwrite each other.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "That does not look like a pin link" | A board, profile, search or home page link | Open the single pin and copy its link |
| "That pin.it link did not lead to a pin" | The short link points to a board or profile, or has expired | Open it in the app and copy the pin's own link |
| "Could not read this pin" | Deleted pin, secret board, or Pinterest sending a home page | Open the link in a private window; if it loads there, try again in a minute |
| Only an image appears for what looked like a video | The pin links out to a video on another site, such as YouTube | The video is not hosted on Pinterest; visit the source |
| iPhone plays the video instead of saving it | An in-app browser is handling the link | Open this page in Safari |
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't download whole boards or profiles, only one pin per link.
- It can't reach pins on secret boards or anything that needs a login.
- It doesn't upscale. If Pinterest stored a 720p file, that's the best available.
- If a pin only embeds a video from another site, such as YouTube, you get the pin image, not the video.

Copyright and Pinterest's terms
Pinterest is mostly made of re-shares. The person who pinned something is often not the person who made it, so the copyright usually belongs to someone further back. Keep downloads for personal reference, and ask the creator before reposting or using a clip commercially. Pinterest's terms also limit automated collection; this tool fetches one pin at a time when you ask for it, and does not crawl boards. It does not log in, use cookies or reach secret boards.
Privacy
The link you paste goes to a small server function that reads the public pin page and returns the media addresses. Previews load straight from Pinterest's servers, and downloads are streamed to you without being stored. No files, links or history are kept.
